Who to Watch for and What to Expect from Springs Sports Teams

Baseball

Head Coach: Rick Surls

Key players: Ayden Acres, Justin Aikens and Wyatt Larson.  Coach Surls believes Acres will be a key figure to getting them deep into games against the best teams.  Coach believes Aikens will be a valuable help at shortstop at getting runners out. Coach says Larson is a master at getting on base and scoring runs for the team.

Key games: Both key games are against rival school AJ at the end of the season usually with potential playoff spots.

Boys Tennis

Head Coach: Dave Nelson

Key players: Jason Washington and Cameron Ricks. Coach expects them to be compete for a regional championship as the doubles partners are both ranked in the top 25 in the region.

Key games: Coach believes the key game is against Mesquite as its early in the season and sets the tone for the league schedule.

Girls Tennis

Head Coach: Kris Wood

Key players: Brooklyn Hicks, Emilie Potter, Emily Alger, Sariah Sasser.

Key games: Wood is looking for his girls to be competitive in region this year with big games on the line against Seton Catholic and Poston Butte.

Beach Volleyball

Head Coach: Jarett Tauiliili

Key players:  Paige Gunnels and Stephanie Yanez. Coach Tauiliili is  looking for his seniors to make a big impact in first year coaching the beach team.

Key games: Big games this season will be against rival school Poston Butte and Apache Junction as fight for the battle of Ironwood.

Track and field

Head Coach: Stacy Johnson

Key players: Bubba and Simon Taunima. Coaches are expecting the returning throwers to be challengers for state this year as they both were last year.

Key games: This season key games are going to be against rival schools Apache Junction and Poston Butte  as they fight for the battle of Ironwood.
