Mojang is requiring all Java edition Players to migrate their Mojang account to a Microsoft Account, starting early 2021.

Attention all Java Edition users, Mojang has some news for you. Starting early 2021, Mojang is requiring all Java edition Players to migrate their Mojang account to a Microsoft Account. If you are a console gamer or you already have the Windows 10 Edition (Bedrock Edition), you will have nothing to worry about.

This migration has many benefits, “Increased security for your account with two-factor authentication… All your PC Minecraft games will be connected to the same account… Improved parental controls to help keep kids safe when playing online,” From a blog post on Mojang’s Website, minecraft.net

“Please remember that this is mandatory,” Mojang said. If you don’t migrate your account when you receive an email showing you how, you will no longer be able to use your Java Edition account after a few months.

This will not change anything about Java Edition. You’ll still have access to your favorite servers and be able to mod Java Edition, and even use CurseForge, Feed The Beast Launcher, or ATLauncher. Everything will be the same, if you migrate.

Mojang is offering a reward to every player for migrating, when you complete migrating your account, you’ll receive a cape.

The process is going to be slow, they have to migrate the accounts in batches because there are a lot of account holders. Keep an eye on your email that you registered your Java/Mojang account with.

They will be sending instructions on how to migrate your account. If a friend of yours got the email but not you, don’t worry, you’ll get yours soon.
