Most students spend their break locked up in their rooms binge watching movies, but this season has so much more potential! Over break there is a variety of activities to keep christmas spirit up and boredom levels down.
Winter break is meant for fun, not sleeping all day, so here’s a few ideas to fill your time.

Bake Christmas treats: pumpkin pie, cinnamon rolls, sugar cookies, gingerbread houses, etc. Just the smell will make it feel like Christmas. Here’s some recipes:

Set up a Secret Santa between friends or family: It’s a good way to get closer with loved ones and you get a gift, and who doesn’t like gifts?

Make homemade Christmas crafts: ornaments, paper mache snowman, wreaths, or decorate stockings. Here’s a good place to get ideas:

Jam out to Christmas classics:All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” by Michael Bublé, “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Darlene Love, “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” by Bing Crosby. For easier access, download the Essential Christmas playlist in Apple Music or Christmas Hits playlist on Spotify.

Take advantage of time off school: Go visit family or friends you don’t see often, and if your family visits you make sure to spend time with them.

Walk the Zoo lights: At Phoenix Zoo from November 27th to January 19th until 5:30 to 10:30 nightly. General tickets cost $18.95, but on Value Night they’re only $13.95!

Decorate a tree with family: No Christmas is complete without a beautifully decorated tree, even if it looks like Charlie Browns!

Have a Christmas movie night with friends and family with the classics: Home Alone, Elf, The Santa Clause, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Enjoy the cool weather with some outdoor activities: go to Flagstaff, Pinetop, or Tucson all are expecting snowfall this winter and offer multiple activities in the snow!

Now that you have some ideas for this holiday, make sure to have fun with friends and family. Christmas break holds a lot of potential, take advantage of your time off school!
